Carl Thomas is back and ready to "Conquer"

Carl-Thomas

CNN.com has an article asking "Where is the love in R&B music", and though it may not be in the R&B music that most radio stations choose to play. The love is definitely here. This year alone had releases from Jill Scott, Ledisi, Joe, Robin Thicke, Mary J. Blige, Eric Roberson, and now Carl Thomas, that proves love IS in the music. Soul music.

On his newest release, Conquer, Carl Thomas teamed up with top producers, Andre (formely of multi-platinum production duo Dre & Vidal), Rex-Rideout, and The Internz to create an album full of soulful sounds that will surely please the fans that he captured with his debut album Emotional.

The love isn''t gone, it''s just not being played on your local radio. And that''s where the problem lies. Call and request the artist that you love you so much. Demand the stores to stock their music. The power is in the hands of the listener and buyer.

You can check out his single "Don''t Kiss Me" below. It''s currently in rotation on MO''Betta Music Radio.

Album Review:: Phonte - Charity Starts at Home

New Tigallo, New Tigallo New Tigallo! Grammy-nominated, Little Brother and Foreign Exchange affiliated, Phonte Coleman hits us with his solo release Charity Starts at Home.  The album manages to showcase the diversity of Phonte''s style without straying too far from it''s soulful, grass roots, hip hop center.  I like this. While a lot of today''s releases either favor a heavy pop influence or a hard edge, Phonte stays on task with witty rhyme delivery and sings saucy vocal hooks as heard on the lead single Not Here Anymore where he is joined by Detroit lyrical heavyweight, Elzhi. With 9th wonder extracting a soul sample from a classic Rose Royce track and adding crispy yet muted snares and a thumping kick drum, this song has all the ingredients of a banger!
